The subject "Master's Thesis" (TFM) provides the practical components for the design and presentation, by the student, of an original research project, taking into account all the aspects that are relevant when considering a research project: the background and current state of the subject under study, the hypothesis and objectives of the work, the methodology to be used, the analysis of the possible results and their discussion, taking into account the specific literature.
The dissertation will be assessed according to the criteria contained in the corresponding teaching guide, which will include at least the following: presentation and structure, clarity and relevance of the contents, originality and innovative nature, integration of competences and contents worked on in the master's degree, reflective nature and internal argumentation, use of specialised bibliography, quality of the oral presentation, confidence in the defence and, finally, use of communication support resources.
Instructions for the presentation of the Final Master's Thesis
A written report of the work carried out must be submitted with a maximum length of 30 pages, single-spaced, in Arial font (minimum 11pt).
The report will consist of:
- Cover page: with the title of the work, the name of the candidate and of the director(s) of the project, and the signature with the latter's approval.
- Introduction: including the working hypothesis and the specific objectives.
- Material and Methods: description of the techniques and methods used.
- Results: if deemed necessary, this may include the development of methods, obtaining materials, etc., although these do not constitute results in the strict sense of the term.
- Discussion: analysis of the results obtained
- Conclusions: conclusions derived from the work
- Bibliography: most relevant references in relation to the work carried out.
Three copies of the TFM Report, in Spanish or English, must be submitted to the Secretary's Office of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Physiology, 5th floor, Faculty of Medicine, on the date indicated.
Together with the three copies of the written dissertation report, a confidential report will be submitted in a sealed and signed envelope from the candidate's tutor(s), in which the candidate's interest, attitude and dedication throughout the completion of the dissertation project will be assessed. On the basis of this assessment, the tutor will issue an overall numerical assessment of the student in this report.

- Fill in the application for defence and assessment. The model provided in the Procedure for the deposit of end-of-studies projects (TFG&TFM) in the Document Repository of the UVa is maintained and is completed ONLINE. The Procedure for the deposit of final projects in the Documentary Repository of the Uva is available in the regulations section of this campus and it is advisable that you read it. It should be discussed with the tutor/s if, for exceptional circumstances, the work will not be included in UVadoc or if an embargo is requested until a certain date for reasons of scientific dissemination or confidentiality of data (boxes at the bottom of the form).
- Attach the TFM in pdf format.
- Attach VºBº of the tutor The form is in the documents section of the application and defence and evaluation of the TFM of the E-Office.
- Declaration of authorship and originality. The form can be found in the documents section of the application, defence and evaluation of the TFM of the E-Office.

The oral defence will be held before a panel appointed by the Master's Academic Committee and may be conducted in Spanish or English. The student will have a maximum of 15 minutes for the presentation followed by 15 minutes to answer questions from the members of the panel.
The time and room where the defence will take place, and the composition of the panel that will assess each paper will be communicated to all candidates at least one week in advance. The order of intervention will be alphabetical. The date of the defence will be communicated in due course.
The selection board will take into account the written report submitted, the oral presentation and defence and the project director's report.
The scale to be used in this call 2020-21 will be (out of 10 points):

- Oral defence: up to 4 points
- Report of the tutor(s): up to 2 points
